Church planting

Tent Making

Translation

Note to Kaison: add icons linking to all pages under this page

Our vision is:
to see Thais born again, and active in gospel centered churches, for these churches to have clear grouping of interested peoples, new believers, and Believers. We have vision for Thais to plant churches, and for these churches to plant churches.

Our plan is:
To plant a church, start a school, start a bakery, then franchise the school and bakery with the condition that an upper room be reserved for a church meeting. A self-sustaining church planting model for poorer countries.

Our needs are:
We need a team, more members, recognision by the churches, extended building contract, new roof, more pews, used computer, a bed, a freezer, t.v. screen, and a speakers system. Please pray and support.

Note to Kaison: update this section on both pages as needs are met.

Vision
Our vision is to see thais born again, and active in the church. For thais to no longer be stuck in a church mixing believers and unbelievers, but for these churches to have clear grouping of interested peoples, new believers, and the worship meeting. So as to avoid confusion, and the endless cycle of needing to waterdown the sermon to be relevant to the idol worshipers in the room. Many of them are under the delusion they have 3 faiths, going from church to temple to mosque. We want to avoid this problem gently from the beginning, by grouping. We have vision for thais to plant churches, and for these churches to plant churches. We have vision of thai christians taking political positions, and government jobs, for the purpose of aiding believers, and pushing for positive change in the future. We have vision of thais influencing all spheres of society, and changing thailand through hope faith and love. I hope these smiles turn into tears. I hope to see a day when thailand weeps because it sees its sin and coruption. I hope to hear the crys of repentance. Pray for thailand.
Plan
Our plan is to plant a church, a school, and a bakery. Franchise the school, and bakery. And grow the church until it is ready to split, and use the locations of our 2 franchises to host the church meetings. There are a few reasons we know this will work well. Native speakers who teach english charge too much. Missionaries charge less, but lack commitment in the area of english correctness. However missionaries are more fluent in thai, meaning, they can compare and contrast, and translate, and teach the language better than english teachers. So why not grow my school, hire some missionaries, be support to them, and eventually franchise the school? As far as the bakery, there is not a single sandwich franchise in thailand, even subway is hard to find. Thai people like sandwiches, but dont know anyplace to buy them. Given enough time this will become a sucsessful business that hires handicapped people and supports widows. Then when we go looking for locations for our businesses, the majority of places are town houses 3 or 4 stories high, meaning the top 2 or 3 floors are housing. If we have a franchise, we dont need 3 floors of housing, we can set up at least 1 floor in each building as a church. The upper room to be biblical. So pray for us that we would be able to fufil our long term plan.
Needs
Needs are things you can pray for us. In many situations, needs are things you can provide for us. So in such cases, we need you to be sacrificial and give to help us keep moving towards the churchplanting goal. Right now we are 8 years strong, we are not giving up, my wife and I, my parents, my brothers, and my local church here in NST. all believe in the calling. So if you know God is calling you to support, please help us out. There are many things you can do.

1. share with a church group, or sundayschool class, and let us know you are praying for us.
2. take up a collection, and send it to us, letting us know what the donation was for.
3. join us, by coming to live with us here at the church we have planted in NST, Thailand. In this case, we can find you a job if needed, or if you are set for a while, you can help with the bakery, outreach, and the church group.

The things we need are as follows.
Team
Right now we do not have a functioning missions, or evangelism team. Some things to consider:
-Evangelism is dangerous in this city, as this is the most religious city in Thailand. People are hostile to new things.
-I can only take fang on an evangelism outreach in the condition we have other strong men with us.
-It is illegal for me to evangelise without a permit, and i can only get a permit if i am one of the 5 denominations recognised by the thai government. However, the thai government is extremely incompitent, and in the case i or a team member would be arrested, i have a friend who has a friend, who will let us off with a warning. I will need to change my visa however, to avoid the issue getting transfered to the immigration department, who are much stricter, and didnt like my critisism of their unreadable signs in the immigration office which were very poorly translated. Sinse then, i have appologised for critisism, and they have fixed the signs for the most part.
-I have had teams before, these were the happiest times in my past here, but not very productive. One with a christian pastor outside the city, his church fell apart, and he assured me we would plant a new one. In our efforts, we started several home groups, and had a few different families who were seemingly responsive to the gospel, but the pastor was older than me, and would not take my rebuke, as this is thai culture and a younger man can not correct an older man, even as he would his father, as paul instructed timothy. So when i critisised his intake of wisky in the village at night, and eventually the drunken strip tease a member of one of the home groups performed for him, he was not able to accept. So i had to move. Later a younger man, who i am still keen of, very wise in the scriptures, and more knowledgeable than even myself, a convert to the faith, helped me, and i did compinsate him for his work, but he was not able to help for long. He now has to consider his future, and has moved away to work on on oil rig. So finding people who can be reliable may be a very tedious task. Prayers are needed.
Members
Thankyou for your prayers, we now have 2 more members of our church group. The landlord of our home, and a handicaped lady who comes with her. I believe that if i am faithful with this group of 4 people, then God will grant more. Part of this has to do with an outreach team, and the ability to go out and make disciples. But, having the group means i have a permanant place to bring those disciples back to and not worry about them falling away because of a skew of reasons, false teaching, hardship, or false conversion. So we have the infustructure nessesary to start to move faster. Try to imagine, missionaries of the past who were unable to form a team, almost always failed to produce any lasting church. In thailand, the teams formed were chinese in bangkok, and this was due to a law that forbid missionaries to share with the locals. So now the only historical prodestant churches in bangkok are the chinese babtist churches, and there are several, but this may cause local thais to feel unaccepted. We need a team of local thais. My wife, her testimony, and some younger men who can speak up and share the gospel.
RecogniTion
The church here does not recognise us, we are merely a cell group. However in the eyes of God we are more than this, we are as he has called us to be. Pray that they would recognise us as a church. Also the government will not recognise us no matter what because we are not a denomination. So this is an underground church. So please pray that we will not be arrested before an unstoppable movement of church planting has started. Please pray in faith.
Pews/Benches
We had 3 long pews made for us, and were only able to pay for 1, so the other 2 are sitting in a wood shop somewhere, and we hope we can have them finished for us soon. Please pray for this, that we would have enough money to have them finished. The pews turn into tables, so they are multifunctional, and will be good for the bakery and the church, allowing for more customers, and eventually sustainable support for the church and its ministries.
Extended building contract
We signed a contract for 3 years, here in a year and a half that will be up, so please pray we will be allowed to sign for another 5 years which will allow enough time to save, and possibly build our own location in the future. It will allow enough time for us to have a child, and raise him here. In the condition that we extend our contract, we will ask that the roof be replaced by a metal roof, same tiles. The roof is infested with termites, and they occationally come down to greet us from the ceiling. I hate the little monsters, and want a second floor upstairs, so please pray they would do this for us. They did it for our neigbors, so this is a good sign they are ready to do it for our house too.
New Roof
The roof is infested with termites, and we may have to pay for it to be built ourselves, in such a case, we may need financial support from home. It should cost around 4000-5000 dollars to rebuild the roof with metal.
Bed
We are sleeping on a mat on the floor. We need a bed, which will help with a number of things married people do.
Used Computer i can use with my old projector
I should be able to find a used computer for about a hundred bucks, and then plug my projector into it and use it for church, and even class when i teach. In addition, i might plug another screen into it, and wire that screen out to a table and let customers and students, and memebers use it.
Freezer for Fangs Bakery
Fang's only freezer is the little ice box in the top of my mini fridge. This prevents us from selling other things which might help make us more succesful as a resturant, like frenchfries with the burger, or icecream, or freesing pizza crust for adding pizza to the menu, or even saving money by buying a half a pig, instead of buying our meat little by little. A freezer runs at about 200-300 dollars.
T.V. or screen for Bakery
In prayer we know we need to have evangelistic sermons playing from a playlist in youtube, all the time. When thai customers come in, they will hear the gospel in their own language, their own people, and suddenly, this misconception that christianity is the whitemans relgion will fall. This is important for our growth.
Speakers
This is one of the more expensive projects, but i do save some money cause my wifes father had a bunch of speakers around he wasnt using, so we are putting them to use. I need a portable amplifier, i saw one with wheels, and a mic, and a built in speaker, we plan on taking this to the park or other places on outreach. When we are at the church, we will plug it in and use it as the main amplifier as well. The speaker wires are already in the ceiling from when this was a church before. So all things considered we are looking at about 300-400 dollars for this project.
